I just returned from 30 day long outing in Southwest US before my return to Euro. I had some great time, and hopefully I didn't fail to capture some of the light I witnessed in the field. This is one image that I was hoping to capture for years. Delicate Arch is well known and photographed "Icon". About 10 years ago I was there and this big storm rolled in, and ever since I was hoping to capture something similar with my camera. Many times I have hiked up there only to have empty blue sky, but this time I finally got my reward. Big clouds, lightning, wind (record winds with gusts up to 70 MPH), all of the good stuff happened, and believe me it was quite scary at times, but at the end I sucked it up, and this is my reward.

Hope you enjoy,
Tomas

An icon always is deserving of another great shot. Well done.

Thanks for the hint with the 5 minutes of exposure. I'm still trying to learn this stuff and it's great when such info is provided. I hope I can try this myself somewhere here!

I like the blue tone :) And I'm amazed by what can be achieved with 5mn of exposure... :+fav:

Excellent hues and exposure! The sky's so dramatic, yet smooth and soft, and good background to the arch's clarity. Is the foreground this slanted, or did you hold the camera at an angle? The arch looks like it's holding on for dear life! Feels calm, but a brooding kind of calm before the storm breaks loose!
