Such a beautiful capture! It is amazing how much the landscape changed after the eruption, but it is wonderful to see color coming back into the area.
I actually remember the day of the eruption. We had to wear those white masks and there was ash all over the streets. I remember playing with it and being memorized when the rains came and washed it away.
I think this is one of the most pronounced, attention-grabbing landscapes that I've seen of this area. With the subtle light and the quiet mid-tones, the bright red of the flowers in the foreground are almost symbolic of the sleeping, ominously-lit beast in the background. A capture to be proud of, for sure.
It's beautiful. The Pacific Northwest and volcanoes are part of the country that I have not been to, but desperately want to. I love to climb and hike, so my eventual goal is to one day summit Rainier.
FANTASTIC use of color! The mountain and the field below are both woven with cool tones, but the red flowers and the orange glow on the rock from the sun tie the image together perfectly. Gorgeous. What else have you got in your gallery?
